Tip: Don't throw away junk mail, pamphlets, brown paper bags, announcements, invitations, or cards! Save the paper for cute cut-outs in your scrapbook! (However, beware of acid paper...you want your hard work to last, right?)

Color is a forgotten wonder in scrapbooking. Mix and match...and have fun!

Take items from your photos to create a theme for your page. For example, my sister ordered Escargot on a cruise a few years back. I decided to use a snail as the main character on the page.

Again, use characters on your pages. For Thanksgiving, use a turkey. Christmas: Santa. Etc. You DON'T need a cut-out machine to create. Use your own innovation and scissors to make your own!

Bold colors and letters add interest. Off-set your pictures and headings by putting them on crooked...straight lines get boring!

Here is an example of using recycled paper. There are 4 different types of blue paper on this page. All of which came from junk mail and cards. GO GREEN!

I used crinkled paper bags to make the sand on this page.

The base of this page was blue. I cut strips of purple paper out, glued them in a pattern, and used pen to highlight the edges. TIP: Outlining in pen or marker gives any page a more finished look.

I didn't know how to tie these random photos together, so I drew items from each photo and glued it on. The first picture is of kids sitting on an old 70's couch....so, the picture I drew was that of a couch. The second picture is of me and my grandma at the family ranch, so, I drew a cabin.

BE INVENTIVE!

I went to Nebraska a few years ago. Nebraska is known for it's corn, hence, I glued on corn husks that I had made by using recycled paper from old school assignments.

Again, I used the theme of the photos to create the theme of my paper.

Recycled creativity. SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO! If you love to scrapbook, challenge yourself. Put away your purchased cut-outs. Put away your machines. Use your imagination. GIVE IT A SHOT, you may find you have an artistic ability you never knew you had!

I love to scrapbook! And yet I am always amazed to hear how much money people spend on it! I have figured out a creative, fun, and inexpensive alternative to darling scrapbooking. All it takes is a little creativity and recycling!
